Feldenkrais At The Time For… Cafe
116 Pentonville Road
The Angel, Islington, N1
I am delighted to announce that I am now available for classes and 1-2-1 sessions in N1, at a lovely, light and airy space in Pentonville Road, above the Time For… Cafe.*
One-to-one Functional Integration lessons are available above the cafe between 12 and 6.15 on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Classes will be running most weeks (any pauses will be posted here). All classes are drop-in, and suitable for anyone of any level of experience with Feldenkrais.
Mats will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Wednesday – 6.30–8pm
Embodied Voice classes combine Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement with the up-to-the-minute voice training techniques that have emerged from modern vocal science. It is aimed at anyone who wishes to develop a conscious, flexible, strong, healthy voice – whether their interest is singing, speaking well as an actor, or freeing their natural voice as a healing or spiritual process – and of course any combination of these elements. There will be no pressure to perform–the ongoing process will be to steadily increase your understanding of how your voice works, and to develop your vocal confidence and spontaneity, so that with practice your voice will become fully integrated both physically and emotionally – a totally embodied voice. It is important that you feel relaxed and able to explore sounds without any embarrassment or self-consciousness, so we will be making sounds together as a group during the classes.
There will also be a Sunday workshop on this topic on June 24th – details will be posted shortly.
Thursday – 6.30–8pm
Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement
From my article “Feldenkrais And The Art Of Allowing”:
In class we lie on the floor, gently surrendering to gravity, and begin to remember the art of softening, and freeing, and releasing, and letting go, re-awakening our awareness to all the bio-and–neuro-feedback that comes to us constantly from our various internal and external senses, feedback which we have been unconsciously tuning out, or may even have switched off completely. As our ability to move in unfamiliar patterns and non-habitual movement sequences develops, we are also learning to shed our muscular corsets, and access new ways of moving in everyday life – ways that are fluid, and rhythmic, and pleasurable to experience; an outer, visible expression of our internal alignment and increasing equilibrium. In time we become more responsive to what is going on, tuning in to the vibrant world around us, fully resonating with life, easily integrating all the different parts of ourselves into a natural whole, so that we can be fully present and fully ourselves, even when we are surrounded and buffeted by the other strong personalities in our lives… Full article here.
After each class I will post useful links and practice notes on my blog, to help you maintain and accelerate your improvement.
All classes are drop-in, and all are suitable for any level of ability, however please note that there are stairs to climb – contact me if you would like information about classes with level access elsewhere…

** Full (and genuine) Quote – as confirmed on the delightful “Fake Buddha Quotes” Website:
“There is one thing that when cultivated and regularly practiced, leads to deep spiritual intention, to peace, to mindfulness and clear comprehension, to vision and knowledge, to a happy life here and now and to the culmination of wisdom and awakening. And what is that one thing? It is mindfulness centred on the body.”
